The staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. The gentleman working the front counter was unbelievably helpful, and being a business owner myself, an employee I believe anyone would be lucky to have.
The rooms could use some updating...
Location, price and building architecture.
Dirty, in disrepair, and out of date.
This hotel was much better than expected. Access to interesting sites was very good, it is a beautiful building and worth staying for that. The fact that it is used for other activities besides hotel guests gave it a special atmosphere. We went up the bell tower (definitely worth doing) and a group of children were up there with their teacher drawing pictures of the city. The staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean. We had a light dinner one evening and it was excellent. The hotel has a taxi driver and the staff will help you negotiate a price. (Important because there are taxis everywhere all wanting your business and the prices are not necessarily consistent.)
Having read reviews on the breakfast I was prepared for average food and I wasn't disappointed - I have had better breakfasts elsewhere. When we asked for refills (ie the drinks jugs) it was done quickly, but I didn't think we should have to ask. Having said that, the breakfast offers a good choice and was tasty enough. I had also read about the beds (being a bit uncomfortable) and I agree. We were there three nights and it was enough.
Nice rooms. Reception was very friendly. I dint like my first room as it had 2 single beds and they happily changed my room to one with double beds within 5 mins after checking if there was another room available and cleaned up. The breakfast was good too (very few places in israel serve brown bread and this was one of those who had choice between brown and white bread)
My neighbours were some noisy Americans who did not have any manners and were talking loudly in the corridors. Not the hotels fault, but they could have asked the neigbours to be civilised. In anycase, im glad that I was carrying my ear plugs foam so I slept well at night - having said that the hotel was very quiet and condusive for good sleep.
Super reception help and staff generally - very well situated Liked faded gentility - it has class
The location is excellent and i did not expect a well equipped gymn. That was a pleasant surprise. The terrace dinning area overlooking the King Davids hotel is a great place to relax.
The beds are quite narrow and really basic. And the TV channels are very limiting.
I was pleasantly surprised by the building design itself and the easy access to the Old City and the rest of Jerusalem. The location opposite the King David gave me a good view of Mr Putin's arrival! I did not have time to make use of the swimming pool and gym but I was interested to see children playing in the kindergarden below my room window. The young girl who was attending to the room facilities was very pleasant and good mannered. The room itself had in it all that I needed. Breakfast was satisfactory in the quality and choice of food available. I struggled to lift my case up the steps to the hotel and in reception too.
There were some cobwebs on the window in my room and the windows needed cleaning. There was a distracting noise in the room as if the air conditioning was on continually, even when it was switched off on the wall. Reception staff were generally helpful but I did not receive all messages left for me on my arrival day.
The location of the hotel is great, very close to the Old City in Jerusalem. The building is very interesting, with a historical feel to it and beautiful outdoor spaces. The staff did not give the best first impression, but turned out to be really quite friendly. As we stayed there on a national holiday, most restaurants in the area were closed and we considered having dinner (buffet) at the hotel. The staff then recommended us to go to East Jerusalem instead, for a different kind of experience, and we ended up having a great evening.
The hotel is a little run down. The shower was a little broken, though functioning alright, and the pool with its facilities was a little old. I still think it was alright though, but do not expect everything to be perfect.
Fantastic location and great building. The foyer and restaurant outside seating area are spectacular.
There was no welcome guest book in the room, giving information on the services of the hotel, no info on how to use the television (which I had to ask the guy at reception to come and sort out), no number given to make an outgoing call, no information on getting hairdryer, ironing board or on the restaurant times and menu.
Great location for the city tours, marvelous design of the hotel, fair price for the room
The nice things about this hotel are the location (walking distance from Jaffa gate) and the history and architecture of the building. It would be fair to say that the facilities are also good (swimming pool, basketball court, squash court, gym and free wireless Internet throughout the entire hotel and grounds). The price is probably a good reflection of the location and the facilities available.
The rooms require some investment to bring them to a modern standard. If the right money is invested this can easily be made into a four star hotel or even five star.
Excellent location just 12-15 minutes from the Old City. Fine service and delicious breakfasts . Actually, if the absence of mezuzah and lots of Christians in the neighbourhood do not worry you that much, that place is alright
There are only separate twin beds in the whole hotel, thus, the double one is made of two twin. Also, on the first day there were two small blankets instead of one big, however, that issue was quickly resolved.
Everything was very good. Breakfast and Dinners were excellent. Even some friends that stayed in other 5 star hotel, came to group dinners at the Hotel. Service was also excellent and prices very reasonable.
The history of the place and the liveness of its environment.
The rooms are dated but comfortable and the information desk is not very helpful.
location. It's close to old city, u can walk to there.
room is very small, all of facilities are very basic. Staffs are nice, but not helpful. We check-out at 6am in the morning, we request a taxi to central bus station night before, but the staff told us we could take bus to there, next day morning we requested again, staff told us waited 15 mins, but 20 mins later, no taxi came, we asked again, he just told us there was no taxi going to bus station and suggested us try to get a taxi on the road. Why didn't tell us at first?!
